Aplisc meeting

Since I went to APLISC yesterday, I had no time to post anything at all. Sorry...
However, I posted the pics I took here(click on pics to see a larger version):

Also, I made a small (and very incompetent) video of Lucy Chrichton's Presentation. No, I didn't film the end of the story. My batteries died ^.^'
The idea anyway is to witness the genius of the inglesinha...

For Teachers and Students alike

I found this teacher that recorded his classes and posted them all in quicktime videos on this page:Chalk and Talk

His explanations are pretty much like mine, and I must admit I felt really tempted to do the same thing. What do you say people? Should I record some of my activities and grammar explanations?

Do you know what is a WebQuest?

WebQuests are a new way of dealing with project work. Also, they offer a great opportunity for integrating skills through the Web!!! I love them and have used and made some with a fair success. You can get more information here:
WebQuest ORG
Also, there is a sample webquest here:
Film maker WebQuest

Remember WebQuests can be about anything, and that you can find them for free online. There are great Brazilian Quests, but of course they are in Portuguese. WebQuests were primarily made for schools and not directly for language teaching. However, that can be used to our advantage because the integrated skills help make the class memorable.

Now for some exercise and practice, try this one for size: Okanagan College Pronunciation

Downloading video from Youtube

There are ways of downloading videos from Youtube.
If you use Internet Explorer, download this program:
YouTube video downloader

If you (like me) use Mozila Firefox, then it's a lot simpler:
Go to the Plugins page and install any of the following:

I myself use UnPlug

The video is in .flv format, so I suggest you use Total Video Converter to change it to MPEG --> format read by most dvd players.

Another great video to use in class
